Intro + Summer's end

Alright, so let's try out this whole thing. Both the blogging (or maybe it's journaling here) and the program with which to blog. I don't know if I'm ever going to really have anything to say or put up here, but I have the space, so I'll try to make something up from time to time. I wouldn't expect anything deeply philosophical or profound, but maybe you'll enjoy some of it. Oh, and little very personal, since there'll likely be members of my family reading it.

Right now, I'm enjoying (I guess that's the right word) my last night in Toronto before heading back south to school. Hard to get a handle on this past summer. Yes, I basically got all of my work done, probably more than I might have reasonably expected back in May. But it's not all done yet, so I'm still not off the hook completely. And I did get to go to Prague and Israel for 3 days each, and had a very good time at each. But much of the rest of time was spent at my parent's place or at the library, which hardly makes for excitement usually. I guess the best way to look at it is to measure it against my expectations going in, and since I expected a pretty lousy summer (what with having to write a thesis and all), I'd have to say that it was a good summer after all. And the crummy weather the past couple of months seems to have brought most everyone else's summer down a few notches, so that helps too. :)

But now I'm ready to get back to Ohio and get going again with the whole grad school thing. I'm looking forward to moving into my new place and settling into a new city. But I'm mostly looking forward to seeing my friends again, both in Athens and in Columbus. Hopefully the move and the transition don't take too long or cause me too much trouble, and I'll be back to normal life by the middle of next week.
